Cartago is a city located in the northern part of the Valle del Cauca department, known as the "Villa de Robledo." History:
Cartago was founded on August 9, 1540, by Jorge Robledo, becoming one of the first Spanish cities in the New World. Originally located in what is now Anserma, it was moved to its current location in 1691. During the colonial period, Cartago was an important administrative and commercial center. Its strategic position in the Valle del Cauca allowed it to thrive as one of the region's leading cities. Over the centuries, it has maintained its historical and cultural significance, symbolizing Colombia's colonial heritage.
