It is known as the "Golden Gate of Colombia" due to its key role in the country's economic development. History:
Barranquilla was officially founded on April 7, 1813, although its origins as a settlement date back to colonial times. The city developed rapidly thanks to its strategic position as a port, facilitating immigration and trade. During the 19th and early 20th centuries, Barranquilla was a pioneer in Colombia's modernization, being the first city to receive innovations such as the telephone, cinema, and airplane. • The Battle of Flowers: The opening event of Carnival and one of the most anticipated. It consists of a parade of decorated floats, dancers, and musicians through the main streets of the city.
• La Noche de Guacherna: A nighttime parade where music and dance take over the streets, with illuminated comparsas and the participation of thousands of people.
